Ugly-Thing: Game I
A downloadable Ugly-Thing: Game I for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Ugly-Thing: Game I is a short 2D action rage platformer inspired by Super Mario World, Pico Park, Pikuniku, and Cat Mario/Syobon Action (you already know, don't you?), the first of the Ugly-Thing series. It presents you to Ugly-Thing, a cube-like creature stuck in a facility, filled with various parkour elements to test his species' agility and strength. As Ugly-Thing, parkour through the levels, hack into the facility's systems and rescue all the Goobers, each becoming increasingly more difficult, longer, more elaborate, and more annoying!
The gameplay is simple, jump and parkour across various levels designed to be difficult and annoying, using timing, rhythm (kinda), and speed. Collect Goobers to unlock secret levels, and beat the level in the lowest time possible. Periodically, solve puzzles to sabotage the systems of the facility. Defeat the guards of each sector. Face various challenges, like darkness, monsters, disappearing blocks, bullets, zero-gravity, swim underwater, and more!
Ugly-Thing: Game I is the newest rage game in town, according to research, 100% of players have become enraged playing, and at least 3-4 insulted the creator for making it (I see why). So what're you waiting for? Play it now!
The game is constantly throwing new features at you, which you'll learn for your self! It organizes levels with specific features, like making a level for just invisible blocks, and then later, mixes these features into many levels. Spinners, trampolines, collapsing blocks, bullets, swimming, buttons that make you smaller, boulders... And many more inspired by classic 2D platformers. Sometimes levels required quick thinking, sometimes they require rhythm... And, of course, these features are organized and planned in a way that will annoy you, and keep you playing and engaged UNTIL you beat that level, because... That feeling of victory.... Other than platform levels, there are also puzzle levels every now and then, to.... Continue, duh.
The Story of Ugly-Thing is simple: Ugly-Thing is among one of the normal citizens of Cubeland, a land where the cube species lives, separated between Things (larger, more colorful and oftentimes older) and Goobers (oftentimes younger or smaller, and oftentimes orange versions of Things). Then one day, Texto appears, with the intention of testing multiple species from multiple planets, being Cubeland one of them, 90% of Cubeland's population is taken to Texto's facility, Ugly-Thing, nicknamed as that by his neighboorhood and mainly Texto, being one of the stronger, most brave, and fastest of the ones kidnapped by Texto, decides that he MUST pass through all of Texto's tests, while rescuing Goobers that are able to break out of their tests of cells. After those events, are the events of the game that you WILL play!
Game I doesn't have many characters, and neither we touch on them much on this game, but some characters are Ugly-Thing (obviously), Texto, James (the hacker on the screen), the Goobers, and the monsters. Ugly-Thing is a nice guy, he is brave and friendly, he wants to do the right thing, he wants to be loved, he simply wants to save his kind from the grasp of Texto, and is willing to do anything, despite what happened to him in the past. Texto is evil, he just doesn't notice, what he's trying to do is be a renowned scientist, and wants to become so by testing several species through torturous test courses, he doesn't see the other's side, just his, he is quite blind. James is the hacker on the black screens, the green text behind your knowledge, he is helping you survive the monsters, destroy Texto's systems, explains you everything that has happened on the facility, and assists in saving Goobers, he is one of Ugly-Thing's only friends, and just wants to help him and prevent him from dying, so, as a hacker, he hacks the system and reads the entire database and "facility Wikipedia". The Goobers are a fun group of peps, they are just childish and goofy, as previously mentioned, they are mostly children (although way more mature than human ones) and dwarves, they like stories, they like learning (principally to read), singing, and they absolutely LOVE gathering up and doing activities. And the monsters, they're monsters.
[FEATURE NOT YET ADDED] Game I is filled with secrets, both levels and optional abilities for the late game, which assist you in difficult levels. These levels and abilities can be acquired by collect a certain amount of stuff in a certain level, by using unlocked abilities in older levels, or by finding no-clippable areas in them! While, these secrets are (obviously) unnecessary, they are fun new features, plus, some of these secrets may be tutorials to features introduced later in the game (which come out unexpectedly)!
